Not every maker has to run one: check WVDEP's list of brands with approved free takeback programs.

    Cost & rules
    • Only brands on WVDEP's list of approved free takeback programs; use that maker's mail-back, collection site or event.
    • Only devices with a display screen larger than 4 inches diagonally (TVs, computers, video display devices).

Before you go

  1. List each device; operators often price printers, phones and audio equipment differently.
  2. Erase phones and remove memory cards before you drop them off.
  3. Ask whether there’s a per-pound or per-item fee.
