    How it works

State law requires every wholesaler or retailer of lead-acid batteries (car, truck and similar batteries) to accept used lead-acid batteries on a one-for-one exchange basis and handle them properly. Cost & rules
    • Lead-acid batteries only, one used battery for each one exchanged, at a business that sells lead-acid batteries. Household batteries are not covered.
    • Lead-acid batteries may not go to any South Dakota landfill.
