    How it works

York County runs 16 staffed Collection & Recycling Centers for county residents (closed Wednesday and Sunday). The county page lists street addresses without ZIP codes, including Fort Mill East (2085 Fort Mill Parkway), Baxter (1731 Highway 160), Mt. Gallant (3986 Mt. Gallant Road), Porter Road (2050 Porter Road) and Lesslie (3211 Pantry Drive). The U.S. Census geocoder places Fort Mill East and Porter Road in unincorporated York County, Baxter in Baxter Village CDP, Mt. Gallant in India Hook CDP and Lesslie in Lesslie CDP, so none is inside Rock Hill or Fort Mill town limits.

  4. South Carolina computer manufacturer recovery program (S.C. Code 48-60-40)State program · South CarolinaSouth Carolina residentsConditions applyFree
    How it works

Under South Carolina's Information Technology Equipment Collection and Recovery Act, a computer maker may not sell covered computers in the state unless it offers a recovery program at no charge. It covers desktop, laptop and notebook computers and consumer printers bearing the maker's label. The maker may use mail-back (for example a prepaid label) or centrally located collection sites or events, and must describe the program on its website. TVs and computer monitors are handled separately through county collection sites funded by manufacturers.

    Cost & rules
    • Desktop, laptop and notebook computers (and consumer printers) bearing the maker's label. Computer monitors are not part of this program.
    • Use the brand maker's program as described on its website: mail-back with a prepaid label, or a collection site or event. Collection events must take any covered computer device.
    • Computers may not go in landfill-bound trash in South Carolina. Every county and some cities also run electronics collection; check RecycleHereSC.
    • Before you go: Delete all personal information before recycling.
