Household hazardous waste (paint, batteries, tires without rims, large appliances) is taken only at the April and October events (2026: April 25 at Gardendale, Irondale and Bessemer sites; October 17 at Camp Bessemer, 3295 King Street, and Camp Ketona, 121 County Shop Road). Electronics, TVs and paper shredding are taken at all events (2026 also January, March, May, June and September). Questions: 205-325-8741.

Before you go

  1. Note whether it’s a flat screen or an older CRT (tube) set; many programs price them differently.
  2. Ask whether a cracked screen or broken glass changes the price or handling.
  3. Confirm the total cost, including any visit fee, before you load it.
